About Tan-Zar Kennels and Cattery Inc.
Bob Catanzarite – Owner
Bob has spent his entire life in the company of dogs. Growing up, he was surrounded by the German Shepherd Dogs that his parents were breeding, raising and showing. The original kennel was constructed for private use for their nationally-recognized champions, including Tan-Zar’s Desiree the 1958 U.S. Grand Victrix. It became a commercial boarding facility in 1955.
In 1981, Bob assumed ownership of the family business, a successful commercial boarding kennel, from his parents who were retiring. For the past 30 years, Bob has worked hard to maintain a tradition of excellence in pet care that his parents began over 50 years ago. He has expanded the original facility and added a room that is exclusively for cats. He has also expanded the grooming services to include a grooming professional with 20 years of experience. Bob is very knowledgeable of canine and feline behaviors, as well as their health issues, and is widely respected among veterinarians in the greater Pittsburgh area.
In addition to his expertise in pet care services, Bob utilizes his business knowledge and education from Robert Morris University to remain competitive in all aspects of business management and in the service you expect and your pet deserves.
Kyle Catanzarite – Owner
During the summer months and holidays, when Kyle is not in the classroom, she is involved in all of the day-to-day operations of the kennel and cattery. A long-time pet owner and animal lover, Kyle takes a very special and personal interest in all of the canine and feline guests in residence, while providing the highest quality care. She is sensitive to individual personalities and needs.
Kyle’s degree and experience in education provide her with a unique understanding of behaviors that many times is transferable from human to canine and feline populations.
Kyle volunteers her time to finding homes for retired racing greyhounds through Three Rivers Greyhounds, the Pittsburgh chapter of Greyhound Pets of America. She and Bob currently have four greyhounds residing in their hearts and their home.
